The best idea I heard about “offensive” statues and relics was to create a Memorial Garden of Bad Ideas.

The best idea I heard about “offensive” statues and relics was to create a Memorial Garden of Bad Ideas. A beautiful place where all the statues go with walkways and decomissioned fountains that you can quietly meander around. The statues aren’t cleaned or maintained but the garden is. The statues slowly melt away with the passage of time (just like bad ideas do) and give people a chance to reflect on their own mistakes whilst contemplating the mistakes of others. There will always be new statues to replace the erroded ones. Be a nice place for a school history field trip.

  1. I wonder if he named Holland separately because most Americans won’t know what the BeNeLux is, or that the Netherlands and Holland are used interchangeably for the same country?

(Even though Holland technically is only 2 of the 12 provinces of the Netherlands.)
